Hi dA Friends !
I'm always bad at updating my journals and this is no exception.
in short. The past 7 months I worked on a comedy tv show with my 2 best friends that will air on Belgian TV in November. It suddenly happened when a nice producer remembered us from years ago pitching an idea for a program. And we suddenly went on to make it. We wrote it ourselves, acted in it ourselves for a large part and I did some animation for it as well. it was a crazy adventure and I'm superexcited about it. Can't show anything yet, though.
next week I'll be in New York from september 6th till the 18th.
On holiday with my girlfriend. But I will be visiting some local artists and do a mural in Brooklyn together with great Brooklyn based artist Paul Windle >

Really looking forward to that ! I always dreamt of doing a mural in NYC.

can't wait to see the animation you've made for the tv show
Oh man oh man oh man, I cannot wait to meet you. We're getting ready to self-release a whole lot of really good stuff, which should get us the funding we need to really explode. I'm right behind you, man.
It's been a crazy period, though, working so hard, learning a lot on the way, dealing with failure and trying again.
It's basically a short fast paced sketch show that I made with my two best friends ( they are directors of Moroccan descent ), that partly deals with multicultural issues in Belgium and in general has more actors with a different ethnical background than usual on tv here. Our main goal was to make a fun wacky show with arabs, blacks, chinese, etc without it being an issue all the time. Something that hasn't been done here before. it has a lot of silliness that I like in it and a bunch of more rude jokes. it's not easy to write comedy at all, but I like doing it. we wrote it ourselves and I did some animation for it as well. we pitched the idea already 4 or 5 years ago multiple times, but it never worked out. and suddenly it did. it's pretty surreal and I can't believe we actually made it. side note too: it's a 5-minute show between other programs that we made 18 episodes of on a small digital channel. so you gotta put that into perspective. a quality channel, though, that runs a lot of HBO and Adult Swim stuff. but hey, superhappy it's gonna be on tv and you gotta start somewhere of course.
moving up indeed ! great to hear about your adventures too, man ! keep up that vibe, we will meet some day soon !
I'm kind of kicking myself because I was going to be in New York around that time too... But that's ok I'm sure you're going to be eating up all your free time with the gf.
Man.
A mural overseas... That's awesome.
